DescriptionThis is the famous Catalina 38 that was designed by Spark man & Stephens and sails beautifully. This vessel underwent a *full* restoration in 1997 and 1998 by G.W. This included new interior teak & holly floors, new interior cushions, 16000 BTU reverse cycle heat and air conditioning system with digital controls, new electrical systems, hull/keel joint reinforced, keel removed and new bolts were glassed in, new Harken roller furling, race size steering wheel, new interior carpet, new bulkheads. She was also given a new 1999 UK Pentax mainsail, new UK roller furling 155% genoa, new halyards, new dark green Sunbrella dodger, new bimini, professionally applied new dark green Awlgrip paint job in 1999 with gold cove and boot stripes, new rudder in 2000, new VC17 bottom paint in 2003 and new cabin wiring and lighting. You will not find a boat with more upgrades. This is the boat that Catalina designed to show her heels to the rest of the fleet. The interior is done in beautiful teak woodwork. The new interior cushions are done in a rich green fabric which complements the rich wood for a warm traditional feel to the interior The new teak and holly floor also adds to the rich effect. With her 6'3" headroom ....... this is a roomy and spacious interior. Starting forward is the vee berth. Light and airy with the new large plexiglass hatch, there is plenty of room. In the forward corner of the vee berth there is access to the chain locker. There are shelves on both sides for your "little things", drawers under the aft end and storage underneath. There are addition drawers to port for more storage. There is a step installed to make entry and exit easier. Moving aft, the head is to port. She has a manual head with holding tank, a S.S. sink, a portlight and an opening overhead hatch give nice light and ventilation. There are cabinets built in under and under the sink with lots of mirrors for dressing. Across from the head is another storage area with a large hanging lock with louvered doors, more drawers and other storage. Next aft is the salon. She has a U-shaped dinette to port and a settee to starboard. There is storage above, behind and below both settees, built-in book shelves with fiddles and storage cabinets with locking doors. There are handholds everywhere to making moving around under sail easy and safe. The dining table raises and lowers on a pedestal to give an additional double berth for occasional guests. The new teak and holly floor really set of the dark green cushions of the new upholstery to give a warm rich look to the interior. There is a brass porthole mirror and a ship's clock to add to the traditional look. The galley is aft of the salon and to port There is pressure water and manual water. She has a new water heater. There is a large new inverter in 2002 that was installed to be able to use a microwave, gimbaled CNG 2 burner stove with oven and a deep double S.S. sink. She has has a huge 5.5 cu ft. icebox with Adler Barbour refrigeration with a small freezer area. There is a cutting board that fits on the top of the stove for those times when a gimbaled counter surface is handy. There is plenty of well organized space for storage. Starboard of the companionway (and across from the galley) is the nav station. There is a large nav counter with a lift up lid and lot of room for charts and all of your other gear. The nav station utilizes the front of the quarterberth as its seat. Sails and Rigging Aluminum spar stepped on keel, new Harken roller furling, new Harken roller bearing traveler, new 1999 UK Pentax mainsail, new 1999 UK roller furling genoa, hydraulic backstay adjuster, Offshore rigid boom vang, extra mainsail, aluminum mast step, storm jib, extra head sail (very good condition), spinnaker pole, lazy jack system, slab reefing system, cruising spinnaker with snuffer (very good condition), new halyards. The primary winches are speed Lewmar 48s, with 2 speed Lewmar 30s are secondaries. She has 2 Lewmar 30 self tailing winches on the cabin top for the halyards and reeflines. All lines are led aft into the cockpit (through the dodger) with sheet stopper. Deck and Hull Beautiful dark green professionally applied Awlgrip hull with gold cove and boot stripes. The 1999 refit included new bulkheads, new fiberglass reinforcement on the the hull joints. In 2003, the deck and cockpit were completely repaired, refinished and repainted by Manitowoc Marine. It looks like a new boat on the deck. $15,000 in work was done and it is beautiful.
